HEROES IN WAITING / ORIGINAL STORY 03
Why Keeping the Curriculum Free Matters
Access should not be the reason a school misses the chance to start a meaningful conversation about courage and belonging.

An educator can see a need clearly and still face a practical barrier. The schedule is full. The budget is tight. The students who could use a conversation about belonging are in the room today.
That is one reason Heroes in Waiting offers its anti-bullying curriculum for free.
Free access gives an educator, counselor, youth leader, or school team a place to begin. They can explore the lessons, consider their students, and bring the material into a classroom or small group without first finding room in a budget. It does not remove every challenge. It does make the first step more possible.
A resource is most valuable when people can use it
The Heroes in Waiting curriculum gives adults structured ways to talk with students about bullying behavior, character, courage, and connection. Those conversations work best when adults listen to the students in front of them and make space for their experiences. A lesson is a tool, not a substitute for the relationships and safety practices a school builds every day.
Shared language can travel farther
When a classroom practices what it means to notice someone, include them, and ask for help, those ideas can move into hallways, teams, homes, and communities. Students may bring their own examples and questions. Adults may find a clearer way to respond. Change takes practice, but a common starting point helps people talk about it together.
Supporters help keep the door open
Making a resource free still takes people, care, and ongoing work. Supporters help Heroes in Waiting continue developing and sharing tools and experiences with school communities. We do not need to promise that one gift will solve a complex problem. We can be clear about the opportunity it supports: more people can begin the work of building a culture where students are seen and supported.
Whether you are an educator ready to try a lesson or a supporter who believes access matters, there is a place for you in the story.
