Heroes In Waiting Welcomes Our Newest Hero

At Heroes In Waiting, trust, collaboration, and the celebration of one another’s unique talents are central to our core values. That’s why we’re thrilled to kick off the new year by welcoming new talent to our team! Rachel Smith, a senior at the University of Oklahoma studying advertising and digital marketing, will contribute to our critical mission of kids mental wellness as our new digital marketing intern.

Growing up as a student in Edmond, Oklahoma, volunteering at various non-profits, and working as a camp counselor, Rachel witnessed how encouragement, hope, and a sense of belonging are critical and even life-changing for kids. So when she saw the heart and mission behind Heroes In Waiting, she says she was eager to help.

“I’ve seen firsthand the impact of offering a voice of hope for kids who feel like there is none,” she says. “I hope my work with Heroes in Waiting will bring that voice, encourage change, and show people just how far a small act of kindness can go.”

Rachel will work to push out our message in fresh ways, and explore new platforms and practices to expand our reach. She’ll also collaborate with our Teen Advisory Board and guide them as they work to amplify the Heroes In Waiting message to their peers and communities.

“We feel like Rachel is a gift to us at just the right time,” says Heroes In Waiting executive director Jim Stewart. “Her energy, her knowledge, and her generous heart will be key to moving us toward success in 2024.”
